Final Presentation Specifications

04/21/2009 10:16

Your presentation is also your final. As stated in your syllabus it is worth 30 points and will consist mostly of projects completed since the beginning of this course.

The presentation is intended as a portfolio of your skills and talents and is designed to show your improvement in skills over the duration of this class. I strongly encourage you to fix any works you didn’t receive excellent grades on in order to make the best impression. The same goes for any pieces you feel you could easily improve on now.
When you do your presentation the rest of the class will serve as a group of interviewers searching for a new digital artist for their company. Your goal is to impress the class with your artistic talent and competency in the medium.

Your presentation will consist of a PowerPoint presentation with the following criteria:

  1. Each image must be presented on an individual slide but may receive artistic touches such as drop shadows or reflections to emphasize the work.
  2. The first slide must have your logo along with your name, theme and course number.
  3. You may choose any presentation template you like but be aware that your choices will affect the effectiveness of your presentation.
  4. You must narrate your presentation describing the works performed, the skills utilized as well as any difficulties encountered and how you tackled those issues.
  5. Your presentation must be saved as a PPT file and be burned on a CD using the usual labeling process required in this course. If in doubt refer to the syllabus.
  6. You will have 8-12 minutes to complete your presentation on the instructor’s computer utilizing the projector.
  7. Each presenter will be critiqued and questioned by their class mates’ right after each presentation.

Your presentation must consist of the following project content:

  1. Your logo. The first slide should include this and your name, theme and course name. (Project 4)
  2. 3 examples of photo color correction. Best results are gained by correcting badly exposed images with heavy cyan or magenta casts.
    (Project 1)
  3. 3 examples of color changes. Make sure you use well chosen, obvious changes on objects. This exercise demonstrates the ability to adjust colors of objects rather than having to reshoot a session. For example a red bike is now a yellow bike and without the original to compare to, it is almost impossible to tell. (Project 1)
  4. 1 Layer comp image. This is a new image derived from several different components and effects to create a whole new picture. This is the most widely used technique in digital graphics. (Project 2)
  5. 1 wallpaper design.
  6. 1 Tshirt design with the concept Tshirt image on the next slide. You may also try to find a creative way to combine both on the same slide; that is up to you. (Project 4)
  7. 2 CD label designs. Not the sheet with dual labels, only the (circular) CD label itself. Try to present them creatively on the slide for maximum effect. (Project 3)
  8. 1 original webpage redesign . (Project 5)
  9. You may add any other images you like but do not present less than is required.

The challenge of this presentation is show off your skills and your work in the best way you can. To do so choose a PowerPoint template that complements your theme and shows your projects off in the best way possible without overpowering the images. Consider how you might be able to demonstrate the color and exposure changes in an effective manner. Maybe you can find a way to do a before/after for your images to give your viewers a better idea of the work done. This project is all about showing off.

Your narration should be given in a manner that describes the intent of your work, skills applied, challenges and which goals were achieved. Show confidence but don’t hesitate to admit to failures or having difficulties.
